“Who looks upon a river in a meditative hour and is not reminded of the flux of all things?” Indeed! For the relation between man and nature is not simply a refuge for emptying our stress, or a spectacle to look at. It is at once the ultimate inspiration, and a call to finding our authentic place in this world: because in the end, man has become—at least to himself—an indistinguishable part of nature.
