Saudi Art Council Organizes Shara Art Fair

For the second year running The Saudi Art Council is organizing the Shara Art Fair, held for five days, starting today.

“We developed the Shara Art Fair in 2015 to unite and enhance the arts in Saudi Arabia by bringing together some of the most influential art galleries in the Kingdom in order to further develop the contemporary art market by showcasing a diverse selection work by leading local artists, said Mohammed Hafiz, Vice-Chairman of The Saudi Art Council.

“Following the outstanding success of last year’s fair we are pleased to hold it again in Ramadan 2016 and give art lovers the opportunity to see and experience the latest developments in the Saudi arts scene, complemented by the added attraction of creative initiatives in furniture and food.”

The Shara Art Fair will be held on the premises of the Saudi Art Council with the participation of Athr Art Gallery, Cuadro Art Gallery and Hafez Art Gallery. In addition, there will be booths by Medd Café, Shelter Shoppe, Mashareq, and The Oil Barrel Collection, a Saudi life style brand for the downstream, upstream stylish.

The Shara Art Festival is supported by UBS, the world’s leading wealth manager, as part of its long term collaboration with the Saudi Art Council.  UBS has a long and substantial record of contemporary art patronage and holds one of the world’s largest and most important art collections with over 35,000 paintings, photographs, drawings, prints and sculptures.

Ali Janoudi, UBS Group Head Middle East and North Africa and Vice-Chairman of the Board UBS Saudi Arabia said, "With the exemplary engagement of the Saudi Art Council, the Shara Art Fair is another encouraging proof that Jeddah is quickly becoming a new regional center for local and international art. I am truly impressed by the flourishing art community in Saudi Arabia."
