Workshop, LEED 201 CORE Concept And Strategies Description

The workshop offers an introduction to USGBC, green building principles and the fundamentals of the LEED Rating System. It includes topics on climate change and building impacts; motivators for green building; and integrative versus conventional approaches – and the associated benefits – to building design, construction and operations.

It covers basic understanding of the intent, concepts and terms for each LEED credit category, as well as green building best practices, regulations and incentives.

This course for those with a stake in their company's or community's building practices, those directly involved in green building projects, and those pursuing a LEED Green Associate credential.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:-

• Explain basic sustainability terms and concepts
• Discuss the benefits and cost considerations of green buildings
• Identify Rating Systems
• Describe the structure of the LEED rating system and the overall LEED certification process
• Recognize the intents of each LEED credit category
• Identify and explain synergies between LEED credit categories and strategies
• Describe case studies that represent LEED best practices in action.
• Understand the preparation efforts prior to sitting for a LEED® v4 Green Associate exam

Workshop Instructor: Eng. Amira Ayoub
Amira is an Architect, a LEED®AP BD+C, a Green Globes Professional™ & a Green Classroom professional™. She has been working at Dar al-handasah since 2009. In addition to her interest in Green design and architecture, she is giving sessions about sustainability and building rating systems, She also volunteered with the International Living Future Institute to become an Ambassador Presenter and established the first collaborative for the institute in Egypt. Her passion is all related to a better future and changing people lives through the power of the sustainable design.
