About 488,000 Kuwait men and women as well as 712,000 expatriates and 31,000 Bedoun residents have driving licenses, as per an official statistical report, reports Al-Rai daily. Ways to provide support to these citizens following the implementation of the government’s decision to increase the fuel prices vary from issuing coupons, increasing salaries and granting fuel cards.
Meanwhile, Undersecretary of Ministry of Electricity and Water Mohammad Boushahri has requested the Undersecretary of Ministry of Education Haitham Al-Atari to coordinate with the concerned authorities within Ministry of Education for taking necessary steps to ensure the backup diesel generators are safe. He stressed the need for their maintenance on a regular basis in all buildings and installations under the ministry so that these generators are available and ready when required.
Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Passport and Residency Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah affirmed that there are a large number of passports available for meeting the citizens’ requests for issuance and renewal of passports, reports Al-Seyassah daily. He stressed that the procedures and transactions for issuance of passports have been facilitated based on instructions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and under the supervision of Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Sulaiman Fahad Al- Fahad.
Eradicate
Major General Al-Jarrah insisted that the employees of Passports and Residency Affairs Department are doing their best to eradicate any obstacles that delay the completion of these transactions. He expressed appreciation for the understanding shown by citizens concerning the delay in the completion of their transactions which occurred due to overload of requests, as the travel season and the pilgrimage season are around the same time this year.
Major General Al-Jarrah said the procedures for issuance and renewal of passports are being carried both during and after the official working hours due to which the delay in completion of transactions will not be experienced after a few days. He indicated the department during the last phase had prioritized the requests of citizens traveling overseas for medical treatment and the disabled. Affirming that all delayed passports will be delivered by the beginning of next week, Major General Al-Jarrah urged citizens to head to the citizen service centers for the issuance and renewal of their passports.
