Twelve Egyptians have been taken into custody following the Illegal visa transfer of their farm visa to a car rental company, the arrests came after the transfer raised many eyebrows in the General Department of Residence Affairs Investigation which resulted in the arrest of a non-Kuwaiti who owned the farm.

Police investigations revealed the transfer was done in collaboration with one of the employees working at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. As soon as the Director-General of Investigation Affairs Brigadier Saud Abdullah Al-Khedr received information a task group was formed to conduct investigations and arrest the suspects.

The investigation team revealed at the outset that the transfer of work permits was done illegally at the Farwaniya Labor Department and subsequently the Farwaniya Labor Department was addressed. However, the department denied any such transfer had taken place. In a short while, all the 12 Egyptians were arrested upon direct orders from the Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Mazen Al-Jarrah.

The source pointed out following the arrest, all the men confessed to paying KD 700 each to the non- Kuwaiti owner of the farm where the 12 men worked. The source added the non-Kuwaiti at first denied the allegation and then when he was confronted with the statements admitted to the charge and said he forged the work permits in collusion with the employee of the Ministry of Social Affairs to complete the fraudulent transactions which have not been documented in the ministry’s records.
