26 Year Old British Passenger Gets Photo Taken With Hijacker

30 March 2016 Kuwait

A passenger who was travelling aboard the EgyptAir plane which was diverted to Cyprus got his picture clicked with the hijacker Seif Eldin Mustafa. The photograph of the passenger posing with the hijacker went viral online, becoming the first ever in the history of plane hijacking.

The passenger who has been identified as Ben Innes, a 26-year-old British man from Leeds, stood fearless and smiling next to the 'terrorist' who was wearing what he claimed to be an 'explosive belt'.

Mr. Innes was one of four foreigners who was held hostage along with crew members during the six-hour ordeal at Cyprus’ Larnaca airport. In an interview, he said the photo had been clicked after the hijacker surrendered.

When asked as to the reason behind the bizzare photo request, Ben said he wasn't sure what prompted it.

"I’m not sure why I did it," he said.
