11 May 2016 Crime News

Thirty Kuwaiti women were on Tuesday sentenced to one year in prison for fraudulently receiving labour support allowances for two years.

The Criminal Court convicted the women, mostly housewives, and fined them each KD1,000.

Investigation had revealed that the convicted women registered in a company only to benefit from the labour support allowances without working effectively, and received benefits and salaries for bogus jobs.

The court also ordered them to return all the salaries and allowances they obtained fraudulently.

The owner of the company was also sentenced to one year in jail.
