417 Arrested In Security Crackdown
An extensive security campaign covering most governorates of Kuwait on Thursday, September 29 resulted in the arrest of 417 violators of law, issuance of 776 traffic citations and confiscation of 51 vehicles including 13 wanted vehicles.
In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Public Relations and Media Security explained that the campaign, which was held based on instructions from the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and under the supervision of Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad, kicked off at 6pm on Thursday, September 29.
The roads surrounding the targeted areas were closed and the officers arrested 417 individuals including 8 who are wanted by law for criminal cases, 53 wanted by law for civil cases, 56 reported as absconding, 187 who did not have any identification documents, 7 in possession of drugs, 8 for possession of alcohol, 83 with expired residence permits, 14 against whom arrest warrants were issued and one involved in a case of counterfeit currency.
All arrested individuals were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. The department revealed that officers from Public Security Sector, General Traffic Department, General Department of Rescue Police, General Department for Central Operations, Criminal Investigations Department, General Department for Residency Affairs and General Department of Public Relations and Media Security participated in the campaign.
