5 People Arrested For Dumping Garbage Illegally In An Open Area

Five people were arrested after appearing in a video that went viral on social media recently. The suspects were seen discarding garbage in an open area next to the livestock pen for camels — an act punishable by Environment Protection Law No. 42/2014.

Environment Protection Law bans the act of discarding garbage and other waste materials except at designated locations and inside containers allotted for that purpose. Statement added environment policemen had combed the area to follow-up and verify report published on social media regarding a truck dumping garbage illegally in an open area, and successfully traced the site even after burning the garbage completely.

It reiterated the department will be monitoring any form of misconduct and deal with it in a timely manner, and that perpetrators will be referred to relevant authorities for necessary legal action.
