An Asian Woman Died And Many Injured In Salmiya Gas Cylinder Blast
An Asian woman died and a number of other individuals sustained burns and injuries when a huge fire engulfed a three-storied building in Salmiya area. When the Control Room of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) received information about the incident, firefighters rushed to the location with paramedics within two minutes and discovered that the fire spread to a nearby building as well as a car that was parked outside the building.
While rescuing the tenants trapped inside the building, they discovered the corpse of an Asian woman. They also rescued a pregnant woman who was trapped under the rubble and referred her along with other male and female victims to the paramedics. The corpse of the deceased woman was referred to the Forensics Department.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in the two buildings and the vehicle. Preliminary investigations revealed that the cause of the fire was the explosion of a gas cylinder in one of the flats. Further investigations are ongoing in this regard. High-ranking officials were present at the location. Director of Public Relations Department at KFSD Colonel Khalil Al- Amer stressed the importance of periodical inspection of gas equipment by specialized technicians to ensure lack of faults in the equipment and absence of gas leakage in order to avoid such incidents.
