Central Kuwait Blood Bank Encourages Public To Donate During Eid

04 July 2016 Kuwait

The Central Kuwait Blood Bank encourages members of the public to continue donating blood during these last few days of Ramadan and during the Eid period. The summer period, which lasts from June till September is a time, when the blood bank has the lowest supply of blood as many members of the public are traveling or preoccupied
with social commitments.

According to Dr Hanan Alawadi, Medical and Donor Affairs Manager of the Kuwait Blood Bank, the Ramadan and Eid period every year witnesses a drop in the number of donors compared to the other months of the year.

“Each blood donation which lasts about 15 minutes has the power to potentially save three lives.

We have had social influencers like radio DJ, Ali Najem who have also stepped up during this time and donated blood and we urge others in Kuwait to do the same and save a life in need.”

The public is encouraged to donate blood at the Kuwait Blood Bank in Jabriya from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm to 1:00 am during Ramadan and 8am to 8pm from Saturday to Thursday and 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Fridays after Ramadan to donate blood and help a life in need. The Blood Bank will be closed on the first day of Eid and will resume operations on the second day of Eid.
