Citizen Files Lawsuit Against Fuel Price Hike

A Kuwaiti national on Wednesday lodged a lawsuit in an attempt to roll-back government’s decision to increase fuel prices. The Kuwaiti Government had earlier announced that it would increase petrol prices by more than 80 per cent from September 1 as part of economic reforms aimed at countering decreasing oil revenues. Under the Government’s move, the price of low-octane petrol would increase by 41pc per litre while price of high-grade petrol would increase by 61pc.

The price of environmental friendly low-emission ‘ultra’ petrol would increase by 83pc. The plaintiff said that he lodged the case as families will be heavily affected by the proposed hike in fuel prices.
