The Criminal Division of the Court of Cassation overturned the verdict of the Court of Appeals, which sentenced an individual to 10- year imprisonment with hard labor along with some compatriots and a Bedoun to different years of prison terms with hard labor for allegedly killing a Kuwaiti citizen in Khairan area.

The court instead acquitted the suspect of the allegation. The court upheld verdict of the Court of Appeals which sentenced the second suspect to ten-year imprisonment with hard labor and acquitted the fourth suspect. It also confirmed the sentencing of the fifth, sixth and seventh suspects to prison term of one year and eight months each. After the judgment, counsels to the first suspect lawyers Yaqoub Al-Shatti and Mohammad Al-Abdullah disclosed that they worked assiduously for two years to establish the innocence of their client who spent two years in prison for a crime he knows nothing about.

They said the Court of First Instance sentenced four of the suspects to ten years in prison and three others to five years in prison. However, the Court of Appeals amended the verdict by sentencing two of them to ten-year imprisonment with hard labor and commuted the terms of four others to one year and eight months. Only one of them was acquitted.
