Crime Rate Decreased By 9 Percent In 2015

Al-Rasman disclosed the crime rate decreased by nine percent in 2015 compared to 2014, owing to the efforts exerted by the security agencies through the comprehensive inspection campaigns.
Al-Rasman said the drug related cases decreased by 17 percent, the number of cases registered against unknown persons decreased by 28 percent while the electronic crimes increased by 20 percent.

He added the criminal cases decreased by 18 percent in 2015 — 7,380 compared to 9,050 in 2014 whereas the misdemeanor crimes decreased by four percent indicating 17,844 such crimes were recorded in 2014.
He added the total number of cases registered in 2015 reached 24,453 — nine percent less than 26,894 in 2014. In the same context, he indicated the percentage of traffic accidents decreased in 2015 by 18.4 percent with 80,827 compared to 99,047 in 2014; whereas the number of violations decreased by 3.6 percent — 6,338,066 compared to 6,574,327 in 2014.
