The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has received dozens of complaints from citizens who were reportedly cheated by an unidentified company by offering them shares in Istanbul project in Turkey and Marsa Alam in Egypt . It has been reported the complaints were filed after senior officials of the company resigned.

Informed sources said more than 30 people have filed complaints with the Real Estate Dispute Settlement Committee at the ministry against the company in question, pointing out after nearly two years the company failed to fulfill its obligations. The sources added when the ministry looked into the issue, it discovered none of the officials actually reported for work except for the secretary.

The secretary added the CEO of the company who signed the investment documents resigned from the company officially on Feb 28, 2016, and the resignation letter has been published in the Official Gazette. It has also been reported another official left Kuwait and inspections carried out by the ministry on the company’s premises revealed the license expired on Sept 16, 2015.

Baseless
After the US State Treasury put him on the list of international terrorists for providing financial and technological support for al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Al-Nusra Front in Syria between late 2013 and late 2015, Kuwaiti Abdullah Hadi Al-Anzi said the US accusation is baseless, he stressed he has nothing to do with any terrorist organizations. However, Al-Anzi said he does not agree with those who have classified some as terrorist groups. Nonetheless, he denied having any links to such groups either in the past, present or future.

He pointed out he was earlier acquitted by Kuwaiti courts of charges of funding groups outside Kuwait. He added, he reserves the right to take legal action to clear his name and refute the accusations slapped on him by the US State Treasury

Suspended
In another development, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has suspended a Kuwaiti preacher as a precautionary measure and has handed him over to the Religious Affairs Committee for allegedly violating the Charter of the Mosques. On the other hand, informed sources said the ministry has stressed on the imams and preachers the need to exploit the fasting month of Ramadan to raise awareness among the young people on the ills of the society which have invaded the community, including the extremist ideas, drugs, divorce and violence.

The sources pointed out the Awqaf Ministry has warned imams against allowing outsiders to deliver any lessons to the young people without prior consent of the ministry in addition to urging imams to choose subjects which contain the aspects of national unity to be planted in the hearts of young people. The sources pointed out the ministry is in the process of adopting a mechanism in the next Ramadan to take advantage of the holy month to educate mothers and wives in the prayer places for women, according to the schedule of lessons through female preachers to enlighten them on the risks surrounding the young men and protecting them from drifting into extremist thought.
