Environment Public Authority Issued 1,209 Citations For Violating Environment Law

Environment Public Authority (EPA) issued 1,209 citations in the last eight months for violating environment law. 75 percent of these citations were filed against the violation of smoking ban in public places, local daily reported. The total fine that was collected from these citations was KD 45,600.

The report indicated that the public sector’s share of the violations is 14 percent which are mainly concerning violation of safety and hygiene regulations as well as violation of environmental protection conditions.

Inspection teams from EPA issued major citations against six slaughterhouses and some vocational locations. They issued 26 citations against the health sector for violations such as wrong methods of disposing medical garbage. The teams also issued citations against two water treatment plants.

The inspection teams issued 47 citations against those who hunting animals that are on the verge of extinction. They issued citations for violations of overgrazing and 59 other citations against factories and restaurants.
