Female Staff Banned From Facilities Designated For Men

22 January 2016 Kuwait

Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has issued a new directive on Thursday that prohibits businesses from hiring females to work in facilities designated for men, calling on strict adherence. All existing contracts or work permits that violate the new directive are to be nullified with immediate effect, Director General of PAM Ahmad Al-Moussa said. The new directive bans businesses from issuing work permits to females to work in facilities earmarked for men, including coffee shops, gyms, salons and other facilities. Likewise, the directive also prohibits businesses from hiring males to work in facilities designated for females only, including beauty salons and gyms. The directive also bans male staff from working in shops that sell female garb. All businesses that violate this new directive will face legal action, PAM warned. The directive is part of efforts to bust any unscrupulous acts that could take place in such facilities.
