Filipino Arrested For Supporting Islamic State

06 August 2016 Crime News

Kuwaiti security forces have captured a Filipino national for pledging allegiance to so-called Islamic State (IS) and confessed she wanted to carry out a terrorist act once she could, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Friday.

The MoI said in a statement security authorities monitored one of the email accounts run by the female Filipino, who entered Kuwait last June as a house maid.

In this email, it added, the arrestee, who was born in 1984, contacted IS in Libya and was using a fake name and a nick-name to evade monitoring.

The ministry said she confessed she was ready to carry out any terrorist attack once circumstances and means were ripe, in order to undermine security and stability in Kuwait, as well as igniring sedition.
