Fish Becomes Costlier Than Oil - Kisr

22 January 2016 Kuwait

Deputy Director General of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) Dr Abdulhamid Al-Hashim disclosed that the fish stock in Kuwait has declined by 80 percent in recent times compared to the previous years, reports Al-Anba daily. He noted some fish species are in danger of extinct due to excessive consumption and environmental changes, citing brown-spotted grouper and silver pomfret.

He pointed out that the price of one kilo of silver pomfret is equivalent to the price of three oil barrels, indicating silver pomfret is currently sold for KD 18 per kilo and a barrel of oil is only KD 6.
