Gang Of 31 Promoting Illegal Drugs Busted

  A campaign organized by the Criminal Investigation Department has resulted in the seizure of 31 people – Kuwaitis, bedoun and expatriates, who illegally promote unlicensed drugs, medicines and medical supplements through the social networking websites, reports Al-Rai daily quoting reliable sources.

A security source told the daily the arrests came following complaints by several people about persons promoting via the websites medicines and tonics and creams. The daily added the campaign was organized under the supervision of Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs and Acting Director- General of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Major-General Mahmoud Tabbakh and his deputy, Brigadier-General Badr Al-Gaddoura.

The source added the security authorities followed the ads across the social networking websites and set a trap with offers to buy these medicines and arrested the suspects. According to security sources the contraband was smuggled into the country. All those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities.
