Health Insurance For Expats Who Entering The Country On Visit Visas

04 September 2016 Health Insurance

The Kuwaiti parliament’s health committee is working on measures to impose health insurance on expats entering the country on visit visas. Officials said some expats visit Kuwait solely for the purpose of undergoing medical check-ups and procedures and in turn cause nationals to wait longer to receive their treatments.

The decision is one in a series of new expat-related restrictions in Kuwait. Such restrictions include measures by MPs to substitute expat advisors in parliament with Kuwaiti or GCC nationals on the grounds of increased ‘misunderstandings’ between them and lawmakers.

In the first nine months of 2016, Kuwait deported 20,000 expats and vowed to crack down on an estimated 115,000 for violating labour and residency laws. This week, it was named the worst country in the world for expats to live and work following a global survey by InterNations.
