His Highness Amir Focus On Improving Financial And Economic Status

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah underscored the imperative that the legislative and executive branches cooperate to uplift the financial and economic status of the country, chairman of the parliamentary committee on priorities Yousef Al-Zalzala said on Tuesday.


The chairman was giving a press statement after a meeting that included himself and members of the committee and National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim with His Highness the Amir.


Al-Zalzala said His Highness the Amir gave four recommendations to the lawmakers meeting with him : one, the absolute necessity for cooperation between the legislative and executive branches; two, the current economic situation in the country requires focusing on by both branches; three, though the parliament has one year in its current term, it nevertheless can achieve much for the society; four, maximum concentration by lawmakers and government officials should be on what is best for the country and in doing so all should eschew rumors and innuendoes.


His Highness the Amir spoke about the economic role the parliament must assume in either passing legislation or making apt recommendations to the government regarding the nation's economy, said the chairman.


The chairman added that His Highness the Amir mentioned Moody's, the credit rating firm, and its advice to Kuwait regarding improving the current economic situation in the country.


Al-Zalzala noted that His Highness the Amir commended the parliament on its achievements and the committee on its competent work and Speaker Al-Ghanim on his wise leadership of the parliament.


The chairman said he, committee members, and speaker of the parliament all met also today with His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who advised them to follow the instructions and recommendations of His Highness the Amir regarding what is best for the country.
