Increased Charges For Labour Service Will Be Announced Soon

14 February 2016 Kuwait

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and State Minister for Planning and Development Hind Al-Sabeeh revealed that the special review of the charges of the services provided by the Manpower Public Authority has been completed, affirming that the increased charges and the date of its enforcement will be announced soon.

She stressed that Kuwait has the lowest service charges for several labor transactions compared to that of similar services in other GCC countries, indicating that some of the charges will be increased by double.

According to sources privy to the report, the proposed charges will soon be referred to the Fatwa and Legislation Council to determine their legality and to ensure the new decision does not violate other laws.

They expect the announcement concerning the new charges to be made by the end of March along with the government’s directives for economizing expenditures and diversifying income, which is expected to be announced early April with the 2016/2017 budget.

The sources explained that, “The increase in charges will be based on the type of service. The charge for issuance of first-time work permit is expected to be KD 50 while renewal charges will be increased from KD 2 to KD 20 and transfer charges from KD 10 to KD 50”
