Kuwait's Convicted Of Blasphemy, Defamation Of Prophets Denied Voting Rights

Kuwaitis convicted in a final court verdict, of blasphemy and desecration of prophets will be denied the right to vote. The National Assembly approved the amendment of the law on elections and added paragraph to articles 2 and 31 of the law 35 of 1962.

The same sanction will also apply to Kuwaitis indicted in a final court sentence of defaming the Amir.

A total of 40 MPs approved the amended law, out of 43 who attended the session, while only 3 MPs opposed any amendment of the law on elections.
