Kuwait Collected Up To Kd 40 Million Worth Of Fees And Bills Via E-government Portal
Kuwait collected KD 40m through e-govt portal (www.e.gov.kw) in 2015, said a senior official of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) on Wednesday. Qusai Al-Shatti, CAIT Acting Director General, said during a news conference that number of services provided by the State agency, via the Payit system, reached 1,670, including 781 electronic ones.
Up to 56 institutions were registered on the website in 2015, and number of visitors reached 8.3 million, said Al-Shatti during the news conference, marking launch of a “cooperation initiative,” with the One Global group. Value of e-payments, also in 2015, amounted to some KD 615.4 (approx USD 215,000), said Al-Shatti, noting that 200 online services were added following a Cabinet decision stressing necessity of using the State interface service.
CAIT, since its launch in 2008, has not recorded any electronic piracy, Al-Shatti declared, however, he noted that complaints regarding such cases are received via the hot line 164. On the cooperation with Global One, Al-Shatti said the joint “initiative is in line with the approach of increasing number of the online government services,
in addition to increasing number of users and proceeds.” Such cooperation is also within framework of the State approach for backing up small and medium enterprises for citizens, namely the youth, as well as creating work opportunities and a proper environment to incubate their enterprises.
Meanwhile, One Global Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al-Mansour indicated that the Payit system, installed by the group, largely facilitates payments, bills and tickets for the government. Kuwait’s state electronic gateway, (www.e.gov.kw), provides information and services via all electronic media devices
