Kuwait Fire Service Directorate Gears Up For Rainy Season , Expected Floods

Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) has boosted preparedness in accordance with emergency plan allotted for dealing with the rainy season and confronting expected floods in the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Acting Director General of KFSD Major General Khaled Al-Tarkit said in statement to KUNA that 124 pumps to drain water have been distributed to fire stations in all governorates along with portable boats to ensure speedy outreach to affected areas within a short time.

He indicated about the plan to coordinate with the Meteorology Department to know the roundthe- clock weather forecast which will be circulated in all fire stations. He also revealed about the prearranged coordination with several concerned public authorities with regards to the emergency plan.

Major General Al-Tarkit affirmed that the necessary firefighting equipment and machinery were given to the National Guard early November to assure citizens and expatriates of the preparedness of different state authorities for dealing with the rainy season. He called on citizens and expatriates to follow the weather reports continuously and avoid panic and spreading of rumors.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Maintenance Affairs at Ministry of Public Works Eng Mohammed bin Nakhi affirmed that the sector has completed cleaning, preparing and maintaining 90 percent of the rainwater drainage network.

He revealed that the emergency teams of the sector are working 24/7 to deal with the incoming complaints and are focusing on the areas that were affected last winter to avoid recurrence of damages. He highlighted about the continuous coordination with concerned authorities to deal with rains in any area.
