Kuwait Interior Ministry Increases Bus, Taxi Fares

In a surprise move, Kuwait Interior Ministry today announced increase in taxi and bus fares in Kuwait ahead of the petrol price hike. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammed Khalid Al-Sabah issued the ministerial decision to increase the public transport fares. 

According to the decision, the tariff of public transport fares (per passenger) is as follows: 
- Movements inside the city 150 fils
- From Kuwait City to suburban areas in Third Ring road - up to 200 fils, or vice versa
- From Kuwait City to residential and industrial suburbs of fourth ring rod - up to 250 fils, or vice versa
- From Kuwait City to residential and industrial suburbs of Fifth Ring road - up to 300 fils, or vice versa
- From Kuwait City to suburban residential and remote areas of Sixth ring or vice versa 350 fils
- From Kuwait City to Al-Ahmadi and Fahaheel or vice versa 600 fils
- From Kuwait City to Fintas, or vice versa 500 fils
- From Kuwait City to Jahra or vice versa 600 fils 
Taxi rates are defined separately for roaming taxi, call taxi and airport taxi. Roaming taxis will charge minimum 350 fils for a trip and 0.125 fils per every kilometre and 0.040 fils per minute as waiting charge.  For call taxis, the minimum fare will be 600 Fils and 0.200 Fils for every kilometre. Waiting charge will be 0.070 fils per minute. New fare for airport taxis will varies from 5 KD to 18 KD according to the category of the taxi.

    Texi drive should use there meters. No one using meters. They r charging as they want. Ministry should warn them ans same time public should teach them lesson as pay charges as meter only.
