Kuwait Is Home To The Biggest Quantity Of Domestic Waste In The World
Director-General of Public Relations Department of the Environment Public Authority Dr. Khalid Al-Anzi said more than 1,020 working in private and private institutions have been referred to the concerned authority for violating the Environment Law, reports Arab Times daily.
Speaking to the daily on the sidelines of a lecture ‘Waste Recycling’ which was held at the Bahra Primary School for Girls in Yarmouk, Al-Anzi said that Kuwait is home to the biggest quantity of domestic waste in the world believed to be 4,000 tons a month. Add to this, he said, the foodstuff and clothes dumped in the garbage, which roughly consume 30 percent of the salary of Kuwaitis and residents.
He pointed out the EPA has requested the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Public Authority for Industry, to establish factories for recycling waste over two years. He noted the work is underway to establish these two factories in Kuwait in addition to recycling car tires dumped at Rahiya which is considered the biggest tires graveyard in the world. He asserted the EPA is serious about applying the environment law to make Kuwait the best country in the world from the environmental point of view.
