Kuwaiti Detective Among Five Men Robbing Gang
The Jahra police have arrested a five-man gang – four of them Bangladeshis and a Kuwaiti ‘detective’ – for robbing expatriates, reports Al-Jarida daily. The arrest came after police received several complaints about two men robbing them, one of them a ‘policeman’. One of the Iranians complained he was robbed by two men near the Al- Na’ayem Scrapyard.
He said the suspects escaped with his wallet containing KD 2,400 which was in his car. He added, when he resisted the duo, three other men appeared from nowhere and attacked him and drove off with his vehicle leaving him stranded on the side of the road bleeding. Intensive police investigations led to the arrest of the 4 Bangladeshis in a desert. They were caught dismantling parts of a half lorry which they had stolen from the Iranian.
The Kuwaiti turned out to be a detective working for the Criminal Investigations Department. During interrogations, the men admitted to their crimes. They were picked up by their victims during a legal lineup.
Meanwhile Director General of Farwaniya Security Directorate Major General Fahad Al- Shuwei ordered referral of a 50-year-old non-Kuwaiti to the State Security Department after finding some mobile phone pictures of him holding a weapon. While patrolling in Al-Rai, the officers got suspicious of the non-Kuwaiti’s behavior so they demanded for his identification documents. When the officers checked his security record, they discovered he is wanted by law for involvement in a theft case and he has been banned from travelling.
Further investigations led to the discovery of the pictures in the suspect’s mobile phone but it is still unknown whether the weapon is real or a toy. He was seen wearing a mask in one of the pictures and he also took photos of security officers without their knowledge.
In another development, three youths sustained stab wounds in different parts of their bodies when they got involved in a public brawl in Farwaniya Hospital. Securitymen rushed to the location after receiving information on the fistfight between a citizen and a Saudi national from one side and another group of youths, resulting in injuries to some of them. However, when they reached the hospital, they continued exchanging blows so the security officers took them to the relevant authority for legal measures. On the other hand, a young woman filed a case against a young man who allegedly tried to harass her in a commercial mall in Jahra. The man was referred to Jahra Police Station for investigation
