Kuwaiti Man Arrested For Robbing Expats

A Kuwaiti citizen, identified as S.M., was arrested for waylaying expatriates and robbing them of their possessions at knifepoint, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, the General Department of Public Relations and Media Security explained that the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received several complaints from expatriates staying near Amman Street in Hawally Governorate that they were robbed of their cash and mobile phones by an unknown individual in deserted areas.

The victims insisted that the assailant grabbed them, beat them and robbed them of their money and mobile phones at knifepoint. Officers affiliated to Hawally Criminal Investigation Department launched investigations to identify and arrest the suspect.

Eventually, the suspect, who turned out to be a Kuwaiti citizen, was arrested in Jabriya area in possession of drugs. At the time of the arrest, he was in a disoriented state. When questioned, he confessed to the crime, revealing that he committed such robberies in not only Amman Street but also in Khaitan. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
