Medicines Given To Cancer Patients At Kuwait Center For Cancer Control Are 100 Percent Original

The factfinding committee, which was set up by Ministry of Health to investigate the rumor spread on social media about the provision of fake medicines to cancer patients at Kuwait Center for Cancer Control, has concluded its tasks and affirmed that the distributed medicines were 100 percent original. According to the Head of Leukemia Department at Kuwait Center for Cancer Control Dr Salem Al-Shammari, the committee verified the files of the drugs specified on social media before concluding that those medicines were not adulterated and are 100 percent pure.

He explained that the medicines were approved by Ministry of Health and they were purchased through the GCC Joint Committee on Purchase of Medicines and Medical Equipment affiliated to Executive Office of the GCC Council of Health Ministers. He stressed that this means all GCC countries purchase the same type of medicines.

Dr Al-Shammari went on to explain that the medicines were manufactured by world renowned pharmaceutical companies and were approved by the abovementioned GCC joint committee. Other authorized companies started manufacturing the medicines following the expiration of the patent right, which allows other companies the right to manufacture the item under legal monitoring.
