Ministry Of Awqaf Staff In Dilemma After Daily Fingerprint Attendance System Breaks Down
The SAP (Systems Applications and Products) time and attendance program in the Ministry of Awqaf broke down so 1,200 employees have not been able to do the daily fingerprint attendance which might deprive them of their January salary due to lack of proof that they reported for work. If the situation continues until the end of the month, the employees will have no salary.
The situation has become worse as the company contracted to do maintenance work on the system is not responding. Several employees, who have not been able to do fingerprinting since the beginning of the month especially the new recruits, said their luck lies in Civil Service Commission and the ministry as they have been reporting for work without registering their attendance.
They lamented their salaries might be cut, indicating they are in dilemma whether to report for work or not in this situation.
Deal
An official from the ministry explained the SAP system has been in operation for less than a year. It was inaugurated by former minister Yaqoub Al-Sane after a deal worth KD 360,000 was signed through a company that has no representative in Kuwait, a branch or office which the ministry can refer to if the system malfunctions as it happened recently. Some employees claimed the SAP system is a failure and they have resorted to signing attendance sheets in their supervisors’ offices to verify their time in and out of work. Till date, they said the ministry does not know the attendance issue and there is confusion everywhere.
