Ministry Of Commerce, Industry Plan To Implementation Of Modern Technology
Ministry of Commerce and Industry's services to the public are set to witness a "huge development" as of 2016 with the implementation of modern technology, minister Yousef Al-Ali revealed on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters after a ministry function, he said that the ministry has already started offering some of these services through the internet, cutting short the need to visit the ministry in person.
The ministry is "determined to offer these services through smartphone applications as well," he underlined. On the scale of smartphone apps, the ministry has so far created a downloadable app which makes it easy for the public to make formal complaints about businesses in the country to the Consumer Protection Department.
Other ministry departments will similarly witness "huge improvements to the ministry's services in the not too distant future," he added.
Meanwhile, he said that the ministry has launched a new logo which depicts the traditional Dhow boat, known locally as a "Boom," and symbolizes the nation's "past and its commercial development through the ages."
