Ministry Of Education To Implement Two-semester System

21 September 2016 Kuwait

Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education in the Ministry of Education Fatmah Al-Kanderi revealed that first and third terms are to be repealed and merged with second and fourth terms respectively at all levels of pretertiary education and grades, indicating the two-semester system will be implemented in elementary, intermediate and secondary levels.

Al-Kanderi noted repealing two terms from the usual four terms will resolve agitations by many parents against the previous system. She said instructions passed to the educational areas are clear in that regard, while the newly updated curricula for grades one, two and six will follow the same system, on top of applying continuous assessment in grades one and two.

She explained that students in grades one to four do not take terminal exam but short quizzes in the form of continuous assessment, and the method is different from what is obtainable in grades five to twelve where students take terminal exam.
