Ministry Of Electricity And Water Plan To Install Smart Meters

Ministry of Electricity and Water Undersecretary Eng Mohammad Bushahri has unveiled a plan to float a tender for the installation of smart meters in an undisclosed governorate within the next two or three months.

In a press statement, Bushahri confirmed the ministry has so far installed 1,000 smart meters in Hawally; asserting the project is a success as the desired objectives have been realized. It is worth-mentioning that the ministry floated a tender for the installation of smart meters four years ago, but it was cancelled after the discovery of some technical faults.

Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) will hand over four new housing projects in Sabah Al-Ahmad and Jaber Al- Ahmad housing cities by the end of March. Indicating the total cost for these housing projects reached KD250 million, sources disclosed the contractor in charge of treating and improving the weak soil in Jaber Al-Ahmad Housing City is currently finalizing the procedures to be ready for the handover.
