Ministry To Double The Fines On Violators
Director General of Residency Affairs Department at Ministry of Interior Major General Talal Marafie says, “Ministry of Interior has completed the preparation of four bylaws. One of them is for increasing the charges of services offered by the ministry particularly the Residency Affairs Department”.
Major General Marafie explained that the second bylaw is aimed at enforcing immediate punishment against those who shelter anyone who has been reported as absconding.
The penalty will be issued under the authority of the joint committee which involves Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Kuwait Municipality in order to ensure there are no cruel procedures in such a decision.
Regarding the third bylaw, Marafie indicated that it will target any party that instigates and encourages labor force to escape from the domestic labor offices and companies, stressing that the fourth bylaw is related to doubling the value of the fines imposed on violators, which currently is KD 2, for it to be tougher and more effective.
Marafie said, “Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah issued a ministerial decision to increase the minimum monthly salary cap of expatriate residents, who want to bring their families (wife and children) to Kuwait, from KD 250 to KD 450”.
He revealed that he issued a circular to all relevant departments to “toughen the process of granting visit visas to people with limited income as well as to those who fulfill the requirements such that the number of visits per year should be only two.”
Marafie indicated that the relevant departments have started toughening the visit visa procedures for people above 50 years, adding, “It has been noticed that some elderly visitors go straight to the hospitals after arriving in Kuwait.”
