Moe Alerted After An Error Was Detected In The Students Tablet
Concerned sectors in the Ministry of Education were mobilized after an error was detected in the students’ tablet on a lesson note for Islamic Education regarding prerequisites of selecting an Imam to lead a group prayer.
The issue was referred for investigation to identify those responsible, reports Al-Qabas daily. In this context, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa says he gave instructions to the Undersecretary Dr Haitham Al-Atheeri to open an extensive investigation right away to bring those responsible for the blunder in the book.
He stressed Supervision Section of Islamic Education is currently reviewing the curricula to correct any mistake. He reaffirmed keenness of the ministry to follow up the educational process to resolve negative practices that may impede its development.
Meanwhile, educational sources indicated the blunder did not appear in the books, wondering if the subject of Islamic Education was properly reviewed before approving the electronic copy for tablets.
They noted Public Education Sector refers all curricula to the Information Center by way of official letter before transfer to the Technical Support Section, adding that instructions were given for engineers to rectify the content of all tablets available in the schools.
Computerized
For his part, Supervisor of Islamic Education Jassem Al-Mesbah said the computerized education project is among the pioneering ventures of the ministry. He stressed the blunder was unintentional and unobserved while preparing the electronic copy but instructions have been given to amend it without delay.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Education has disbursed KD 338,000 for the remuneration and expenses of employees on local and foreign scholarships to complete their master’s and doctorate degrees, in addition to study leaves for the completion of bachelor’s degree, from April 1, 2015 to Jan 31, 2016, reports Al-Qabas daily.
A source disclosed the remuneration granted to scholarship holders is based on years of experience, explaining that those who have over four years experience are entitled to full salary. He said those whose experience is between two and four years are entitled to half of the salary and those with less than two years of experience will not receive a salary. He said the Civil Service Commission is responsible for disbursement of scholarship stipend and expenses.
Meanwhile, a statistics released recently by the Ministry of Education revealed that 823 scholarship holders are expected to complete bachelor’s degree within the next four years.
The source said 165 of them will graduate during the current scholastic year, adding that 106 of those who will graduate this year specialized in education while the remaining 50 are into administrative fields and the total number of specializations is 43.
