Moh Will Appoint A Committee Tasked With Devising A Plan To Enact Law To Protect Doctors Rights

The Ministry of Health (MoH) will appoint a committee tasked with devising a plan to enact a law to protect the rights of doctors and healthcare providers, Minister of Health Dr Jamal Al-Harbi said on Wednesday.

The law will be formulated within three months, Al-Harbi noted, expressing hope that the issue would take precedence, given its paramount significance. Moreover, he said that the impending law will be instrumental in establishing trust between healthcare providers and patients.

The Minister of Health also called on employees of the health sector to pitch their suggestions related to the new law. Meanwhile, a committee will be established soon to formulate a draft law protecting doctors and healthcare providers’ from physical and verbal assaults, Health Minister Dr. Jamal Al-Harbi said Wednesday.

The much needed law will be ready within three months from the start of the commission’s work, Al-Harbi said. The minister called on Kuwait medical bodies to provide their vision for the draft law. Kuwait medical association strongly condemned the recent assault against an Amiri hospital official and called for holding the assailant legally accountable.
