Moi Bans Ads On Sale Of Weapons Of Mass Destruction In All Media
Ministry of Information has banned the publishing and broadcasting of any commercial advertisements of the sale of mass destruction weapons including nuclear, chemical and biological weapons in newspapers, audiovisual media, and electronic media.
The ban also extends to advertisements related to money investments and financial facilities that are not licensed by Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The decision No. 167/2016 was issued by the Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah with respect to the publishing and broadcasting of commercial advertisements and others.
The decision also banned publishing and broadcasting of advertisements related to treatment by means of Islamic-approved “incantation” (Ruqqiya) without obtaining license from Ministry of Health, as well as any advertisements that violate the enforced laws or the public moral order.
The decision emphasized the prohibition of any unlicensed advertisements. In its third article, it prohibits publishing or broadcasting of any commercial advertisements without license from Ministry of Interior.
The banned advertisements include those related to sale of weapons of mass destruction and materials and vehicles related to such weapons as well as masks, equipment and apparatus for individual and public protection from the use of weapons of mass destruction, and tools used for measuring nuclear or chemical or biological radiation.
