Moi Eyes 21 Years Age Limit For Young Traffic Law Violating Kuwaitis To Apply For License
Ministry of Interior is considering the possibility of implementing a new regulation for young Kuwaiti citizens who commit three or more traffic violations, whereby they will be able to apply for license only after they reach 21 years of age instead of 18.
The names of these traffic violators will remain blocked in the system until they turn 21 years of age, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.
They said this step is aimed to confront the phenomenon of reckless driving and increasing traffic violations by young citizens who drive without a drivers’ license. They added that this step will limit the number of traffic accidents and will help save lives of people. The sources revealed that postponing the issuance of licenses is one of the rights of the Deputy Minister of Interior.
They indicated that this postponement of issuance of licenses if a penalty similar to the withdrawal of licenses from motorists who commit certain grave traffic violations. The sources lamented that the phenomenon of young people driving vehicles without drivers’ licenses has been increasing, which in turn results in traffic accidents that lead to injuries and even deaths.
Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa has confirmed receiving the report of the committee tasked to study the fake certificates file, reports Al-Anba daily. In a press statement, Al-Essa revealed he is currently reviewing the committee’s report and he will submit his comments later to the Cabinet for proper action.
Asked about the preparations for the next school year, Al-Essa affirmed he is in constant contact with the concerned officials in the educational sector to personally follow up the preparations.
On the kindergartens, the minister explained he is waiting for the opinion of the Fatwa and Legislative Department before laying down a mechanism in this regard. He pointed out the kindergartens should be under the supervision of the Educational Districts Department which will operate in accordance with a clear work plan.
Meanwhile, the minister has approved the proposal to set standards for the payment of excellent job performance bonus to deserving employees in the General Diwan of the ministry, Education Districts Department and schools for the year 2015/2016.
