Mostly B.a And M.a Degree Holders Cheated In Home Countries To Work As Maids In Kuwait
Director of Expatriates Protection Center at the Public Authority for Manpower Falah Al- Mutairi says cases the center receives are mostly B.A and M.A degree holders who have been cheated by labor offices in their home countries and compelled to work as housemaids, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Mutairi noted the labor offices in question normally present attractive packages to trap their victims into believing that jobs are set for them in hospitals or hotels along with good salary packages, only to be disappointed upon arrival in the country when they discover they are to work as housemaids.
This is the main reason many housemaids run away from their employers to seek protection in embassies before joining the center. He stressed the center has filed human trafficking charges against a Syrian national who runs a fake labor office for sexually assaulting six Filipinas he recruited to work as housemaids.
The suspect is currently in the clutches of law while the victims are with the center and receiving psychological therapy. He noted the center provides full services to all inmates, including food, entertainment, social and psychological rehabilitation, and personal provisions without charge, according to international standards.
