Mp Marzouk Al-khalifa Targets Water, Electricity Tariffs
MP Marzouk Al-Khalifa said he will submit a bill to the National Assembly to repeal the Law No. 20/2016 on water and electricity tariffs which is expected to be enforced in 2017. The law was passed by the former Parliament to increase the tariff on water and electricity.
MP Khalil Abdullah Abul said he has presented a bill to create a National Committee to follow up the housing structure. He added, the bill addresses the demographics in five years to bring on par the expatriates with the number of citizens. He added the law excludes domestic workers and children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis.
He stressed the law binds the state and the executive authority to certain demographic structures so that the percentage of any nationality does not exceed 30 percent. In another development, MP Jama’an Al-Harbash announced he has submitted queries to the Deputy Prime and Minister of Interior pertaining to documents concerning withdrawal of citizenship.
He added he has also presented queries concerning the jamming devices at the Central Prison, especially those covering political prisoners and the effect of such devices on health. He pointed out the real test is about the relationship of the two authorities on three files — citizenship, amending the laws concerning political isolation and ‘protecting the pockets of citizens’. He affirmed there are positive signs “and every step of cooperation will meet with steps of cooperation from us but only acts that build confidence needed by Kuwait and all parties,” he added.
