In a bid to reduce the traffic congestion in downtown Kuwait city, Municipal Council Monday endorsed a proposal to suspend allocation of lands for governmental institutions and authorities in the city area.

This decision is in line with a recommendation presented by the Structural Organization Committee,

which bid for mandatory activation of the policy for decentralization of headquarters of ministries and governmental authorities and ensuring they are locating as far away from the downtown as possible to easing of traffic and congestion in the capital.

However, government ministries and other departments already located in the area will not be shifted from this area.
