Municipality Might Terminate 60 Percent Of Expat Employees

14 April 2016 Kuwait

The Municipality’s financial and administrative sector is currently preparing to review various expats’ contracts, positions and qualifications with the aim of reviewing their salaries to decrease some of them after amending their job descriptions and titles, increase it for others and lay off those who do not show up to work regularly, those who fail to do their job duties or those holding fake degrees.

Informed sources at the municipality said that the sector has already started preparing the lists under the supervision of the municipality’s deputy director Waleed Al-Jassim.

Many of the expats had been recruited by wasta that gave them special privileges they are not entitled to, though their degrees did not match the positions they held. “This might open the door for terminating around 60 percent of them,” .
