21 February 2016 Kuwait

The decision to ban smoking in malls will be applied this week, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a source from Environment Public Authority (EPA). He declared that fines up to KD 5,000 will be imposed on the owners of restaurants, and KD 50 — KD 100 against smokers even if they use e-cigarettes.

The source explained that a meeting was recently held between officials from EPA and a number of owners of restaurants and commercial complexes to discuss this issue. The attendees were officially informed about the fines imposed on violations of the law on smoking ban, and that violators will be referred to the concerned authorities. He indicated that EPA officers will be dispatched to all malls and complexes to monitor the situation and ensure law enforcement and immediate intervention in case customers violate this law, so that necessary action can be taken against them. Affirming that special places will be allocated for smokers, the source warned people against violating this law.
