Police Saved The Life Of A Russian Woman Who Threatened To Commit Suicide

Police in Sharjah succeeded in saving the life of a Russian woman who threatened to commit suicide by jumping off the top of a residential tower.

An officer from the Sharjah police department confirmed that the incident took place at around 8.30am on Friday, at a residential tower in the Al Taawun area.

"We were notified by residents who witnessed the woman on top of the tower getting ready to jump," said the officer.

A team from Civil Defence as well as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police were dispatched to the site.

"A team of police officers talked to the woman, and were eventually able to persuade her to not jump and she was brought down," the officer said.

Police took the 27-year-old woman to Al Buhairah police station for questioning, and an investigation has been launched into the case.
