Possibility Of Installing Water Meter For Each Apartment

Ministry of Electricity and Water Undersecretary Eng Mohammad Boushehri confirmed the formation of a technical committee to study the possibility of installing a water meter for each flat in investment residential buildings in order to rationalize water consumption.

Boushehri said it was discovered that putting only one water meter for the entire building for the owner to shoulder the bill encourages the tenants use water extravagantly.

He added the committee will look into the experiences of other Gulf countries which are currently using this system. He pointed out it is known that the owner of the installation of one meter per flat will prompt the tenants to use water judiciously. He said some tenants know how to use water wisely but many others do not care at all.
