Sheikh Fined For Conspiracy Tape Case

11 December 2015 Kuwait

The Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad to six months in jail for offending the judicial authority but he was acquitted of violating the official directive to stop talking about the ‘conspiracy tape’ case. The court also ordered him to pay KD 1,000 to suspend the implementation of the verdict. Meanwhile, the court, chaired by Judge Faisal Al-Askar, acquitted the Al-Watan television program crew of violating directives concerning the ‘conspiracy tape’ case.

Sheikh Al-Fahad was accused of quoting HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah without obtaining approval from the Amiri Diwan. This is in addition to his violation of the orders issued by the General Public Prosecutor regarding the ‘Kuwait report’ case, which contained phrases that could instigate chaos and cast doubt on the integrity of the General Public Prosecutor, as well as members of the judicial authority.
