Special Festival Held At Sheikh Jaber Al-ahmad Cultural Center Reflects Love Towards Saudi King

A special festival held at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center in honor of visiting Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz mirrors Kuwaitis’ love towards Saudi Arabia, its King and people, said Undersecretary of Ministry of Information Tareq Al-Mezrem. Since the announcement of King’s visit to Kuwait, the ministry’s sectors have embarked on covering the historic visit in a way that reflects the great status of the King, he told KUNA in a statement on Friday, following the festival. Upon the directives and direct supervision of Minister of Information, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairman of National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al- Sabah, the Ministry of Information mobilized its sectors and staff to prepare for the festival in honor of the Saudi King, Al-Mezrem noted. The ministry sought, through the festival, to highlight some cultural atmospheres at the center which is a landmark of Kuwait’s history, he said.

He stressed the deep-rooted relations between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, describing them as a paradigm of love and brotherhood that should be followed. Al-Mezrem referred to the stances by the two countries on all arenas, and on all international and regional levels that will be remembered throughout the history of the two nations who have been tied by the same destiny and blood.

Meanwhile, Minister of Information and the National Council for Culture, Art and Letters (NCCAL) held a ceremony Friday to mark the visit of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, reflecting Kuwait’s love and appreciation to the Saudi leadership and people. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and King Salman attended the ceremony, held at Sheikh Jaber Al- Ahmad Cultural Center.

The entire center was welcoming His Highness the Amir and his Saudi guest. A group of children gave the two leaders bouquets of flowers, and His Highness the Amir and King Salman posed for a photo with the children. The main theater roared with applause when the two leaders appeared on the main balcony. This was followed by the national anthems and then a recitation from the Holy Quran by Mishari Al-Afasi.

The evening began with a documentary about history of Kuwait-Saudi relations, all the way to the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). A brief film of the life and achievements of King Salman until his ascendance to the throne, was displayed. Another report about His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad was displayed as well. Hezam Al-Shemmeri recited a poem and then songs and dances were performed, derived from the Saudi and Kuwaiti culture.

Kuwaiti and Saudi iconic singers, Abdullah Al-Ruwaished and Mohammad Abdo, performed a duet. Kuwaiti actress and actor, Suad Abdullah and Ibrahim Al-Sallal, and Saudi actors Nasser Al-Qasabi performed a brief play about relations among the Gulf citizens.

Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud left Kuwait Saturday, concluding an official two-day visit to the country where a meeting with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was held. He was seen off at the Kuwait international airport by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Amiri Diwan Affairs Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, head of the honorary delegation, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al- Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Acting Minister of Oil Anas Al-Saleh, senior officials of the army, police, Kuwait National Guard (KNG), and the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD).
