Textbooks And Smart Boards Complete Education Process

Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa has denied that textbooks and smart boards will not be used following the introduction of ‘tablets’ in the upcoming academic year, insisting that “textbooks and smart boards complete the educational process”.

Regarding the recruitment of expatriate teachers, he said the ministry has sought to hire teachers from several Arab countries such as Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan, affirming that the door for recruitment of GCC nationals is wide open provided they meet the needs of the ministry.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary of Ministry of Education Haitham Al-Atari issued a circular concerning sending a delegation of teachers and management staff on scholarship for masters and doctorate programs at Kuwait University for the academic year of 2016/2017.

In another development, the Cabinet issued a decision that rules out the need for Kuwait University to abide by the decision of the board of Civil Service Commission (CSC) regarding the contracts for additional services from faculty members without having to present financial and management regulations for approval from the CSC and its board.

Furthermore, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at Ministry of Education Yousef Al-Najjar revealed that the salaries provided to Kuwaiti employees from the first-approved supplementary budget reached KD 16 million and 909 thousand from April 1 to June 30 last year and KD 8 million and 628 thousand from the second-approved supplementary budget, reports Al-Rai daily.

In response to the discrepancies discovered by CSC in the expenditures from the abovementioned budgets compared to the period between July 1 and Sept 30, Al-Najjar affirmed that the amounts were deducted from the accounts of PASS and Pension Funds and were transferred back to it, adding that the ministry has requested funds from Ministry of Finance for the first, second, third and fourth quarters of the 2015/2016 fiscal year.
